SCHOOL POLICIES

DRESS CODE

GCA is a place for growing in wisdom, spirit, knowledge, and maturity, where we strive to honor God in our actions and words. Romans 12:2 encourages us to be in the world, but not
of it. We should look different, and we ask that all in attendance behave accordingly.
The following dress code guidelines have been thoughtfully considered, and approved by the GCA Board and Administrator. The school board has final authority over appropriate student dress and grooming.
Clothing should always be neat, modest, and appropriately sized. It should display honor to God, and respect to the individual student and others.
Supervising teachers may designate a specific dress code for class, field trips, or special events, with administrator approval. Otherwise, students are expected to follow dress code guidelines while on campus.

 General Guidelines:
  • Tops must be long enough to cover the midriff, and may not show undergarments.Tank tops alone and cropped tops are not appropriate classroom attire. Collars should not be more than 3" below the collarbone.
  • Skirts and dresses should be no more than 4" above the back of the knee. © Leggings may only be worn under a dress code length skirt/dress/sweater
  • Athletic pants, yoga pants, spandex leggings, and athletic shorts are not appropriate  classroom attire. Changing into athletic attire for sporting events is permissible, but
must be done directly before leaving campus.
  • Visible tattoos and body piercings (except for girl's earrings) are not permitted.
  • For males, facial hair must be neatly groomed and hair should not cover eyes.
  • No inappropriate words and graphics are permitted on clothing. Tearing in clothing should be minimal and modest according to Christian principles.
  • Hats may not be worn in the building.

CELL PHONE POLICY

Students will be permitted to keep their phone in their possession while on campus. The following are the guidelines for all cell phone usage while on Genesis Christian Academy campus:

  • The cellphone must be on silent while inside the building
  • Teachers reserve the right to ask students to not have their cell phones out during class.
  • Teachers reserve the right to confiscate a students' cell phone if the student is not  following the guidelines of this policy.
  • Students may not play loud videos / music when in the fellowship hall or youth room. Administration and teachers may ask to see what the student is watching / listening if one feels the student is watching / listening to inappropriate material.
  • No pictures / videos should be taken of others without their permission.
  • Students should remember they are responsible for the content on their phones.
